In 2001, because of term limits, New Yorkers elected a new Mayor, Public Advocate, Comptroller, 4 Borough Presidents, and more than half of the City Council. In 2009, we will elect their replacements. As the campaign begins to heat up, it's useful to reflect back on Campaign 2001, what needed to get accomplished on the preservation front, what got done, and what still demands the attention of our new leaders.
