The Conservancy’s Sacred Sites program has highlighted, celebrated, assisted, and advocated for the preservation of religious landmarks for 30 years.  This panel is an opportunity to hear not just from preservationists, but from prominent clergy in leadership at historic New York City religious institutions about the day-to-day opportunities and challenges posed by their beautiful and historic facilities.

The panel will discuss the way their institutions have grown or repurposed their facilities for the 21st century, and describe their vision for the future of these historic institutions, and of similar institutions in the city.

Architectural historian and Columbia University Professor Andrew Dolkart, who began his preservation career with a study of Brooklyn’s historic protestant churches, will moderate.

With special thanks to Park East Synagogue for underwriting this evening’s reception.
