CB7 Full Board Meeting Tomorrow, July 2nd
beginning 6:30 pm at Goddard Riverside Center,
593 Columbus Avenue at 88th Street
FULL MEETING AGENDA
While there are many important community issues on the agenda, we want to draw your attention specifically to the Transportation Committee Agenda.  There will be a vote (already passed in Committee) regarding the future of Central Park West.
In response to  a cyclist death in August of 2018, Assembly Member Gottfried, Council Member Rosenthal, Community Board 7, and members of the public requested a two-way path along Central Park West.  The proposal
by the Department of Transportation includes a one-way bike path along Central Park West because a two-way path would be “psychologically unrealistic“.  LANDMARK WEST! is pro-safety, but also wishes this was a less-rushed proposal which was more comprehensive in planning.
As presented, DOT’s proposal, which acknowledges already increased traffic in the wake of park roadway closures, may cost approximately 400 parking spaces along Central Park West.  This is also on the eve of congestion pricing which threatens to further burden the increased parking and traffic woes in the neighborhood.  If you have a position, we encourage you to speak out during the Community Session.
** LW! issued this email as a community courtesy due to the scheduling over a holiday week.  LW! supports a car free park for the better enjoyment of our Central Park Scenic Landmark.  LW! is not offering testimony on the CPW Bike Lane Proposal.  This email was to inform the community.  **
