Also on this day,

“Livin’ on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi was the number-one song in America, and

Oliver Stone’s “Platoon” starring Willem Dafoe and Forest Wittaker was the top grossing film in America; 

On the television, ABC‘s “Moonlighting” was the top-rated show of the night with 25.9 million viewers. 

The lead New York Times headline read: “Reagan Expected to Back Proposal on Major Illness,” which reflected a proposed expansion of Medicare.

In other news, Page B18’s “Design Change of Skyscraper Provokes Debate on Hearing” had David Dunlap outline the plans of KPF to set back a 650-foot tower fifty feet off of Fifth Avenue behind the Rizzoli International bookstore and the Coty Perfumery at 712 and 714 Fifth Avenue, respectively.
