Japanese singer, actor, and television personality Yuya Tegoshi was born in Yokohama, Japan, and
“I Think We’re Alone Now” by Tiffany was the number-one song in America, and
Fatal Attraction was the top-grossing film in America for the 8th week running;
On the television, a repeat of ABC comedies “Perfect Strangers” and “Head of the Class” were the top two most-watched shows of the evening.
The lead New York Times headline read: “Accord Held Near on Deficit Figures; New Talks Today” outlined the plan for $25 Billion in savings through changes to taxes and spending.
In other news, Page B3, “Three Manhattan Theaters Are Given Landmark Status” outlined the designations of the inside of the Biltmore and Barrymore Theaters, and the exterior of the Broadhurst Theater. This was followed by “Two Foremen Accused of Illegal Renovation,” which outlined the arrests of construction foremen at 59 East 79th Street for doing work without permits.
