On this day, the Upper West Side’s Chatsworth Apartments & Annex were designated as the Upper West Side’s nineteenth and twenty-second Individual Landmark.

Also on this day,

“What’s Love Got to Do with It” by Tina Turner was the number-one song in America.

On the television, all shows were repeats except for CBS‘s “Special People” a movie based on ‘The Famous People Players’ starring Brooke Adams.  

The lead New York Times headline read: “Soviet Accepts Bid to have Gromyko Meet With Reagan” regarding a Soviet Foreign Minister visit to the White House.
